The Stars Challenge was a science enrichment program for 6th through 9th graders that was held primarily at Monmouth University and High Technology High School. Our goal was to get more top students -- students who could become innovators -- involved in science and technology and ultimately to maintain America's historical lead in technology and innovation.

We started with excellent teachers. Then we focused on real-world problems where students could work in small groups to create innovative solutions. We wanted to stimulate and nurture the students' passion and curiosity about science. We wanted our students to understand how they can use science and technology to make a positive impact on society.

Take a look at our Gallery to see all the courses and the students we taught in our flagship after school program   About 1900 students participated in our 124 courses over 16 years.  These courses were at Monmouth University and at High Technology High School.

Mr. John Valente led 9 years of our Marine Science at Sandy Hook Camp at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST).  About 1300 students participated during the 9 summers.

Mr. Michael T. Roche led 7 years of Girls Computing and Girls Robotics courses at High Technology High School (HTHS).

Unfortunately, Covid got The Stars Challenge.  We taught our final semester in early 2020 and have decided to tie a bow on The Stars Challenge after 16 successful years.  We loved the opporunity to work with outstanding teachers and get to know many amazing students.  It kept us young!
